Christine Carter is a sociologist and happiness expert at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, best known for her science-based parenting advice. She is the author of Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents and a Greater Good blog, which is syndicated on the Huffington Post and Psychology Today. Her favorite part of her work is teaching her online parenting class, which she does for a global audience. Because sorting fact from fiction can be confusing when it comes to parenting, Dr. Carter strives to be a counterpoint to the more opinion-based parenting advice platforms. All of her advice is based on scientific research. That said, Dr. Carter’s work is as much about her personal life and her own children as they are about science. Her humorous, parent-to-parent tone and tell-all approach make scientific research accessible. Dr. Carter loves to speak to parents, grandparents, and teachers, and she has been a keynote speaker at hundreds of schools and professional groups. She has two children and lives with her family near San Francisco.
