Vijaya Nagarajan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies and Environmental Studies Program at the University of San Francisco. Her book on kolam is forthcoming from Oxford University Press and is tentatively titled, Feeding a Thousand Souls: Women, Ritual, and Ecology—the Kolam in Southern India. Since 1986, she has been the co-director of the Institute for the Study of Natural & Cultural Resources and has been a visiting professor and research fellow at Harvard Divinity School. She received her Ph.D. in South Asian Languages and Civilizations from University of California, Berkeley.
