Vinicius Cantuária is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and percussionist whose career connects several zones of Brazilian music. Cantuária’s albums, always critics’ favorites, have featured collaborations with some of the greatest names in creative music: Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Brian Eno, Bill Frisell and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Although he is best known in this country for his seductive baritone vocals and lovely intricate guitar playing, his experience includes substantial notoriety as a hit songwriter in his native Brazil and for his drum and percussion work with Brazilian music legend Caetano Veloso. He was also a member of Frisell’s celebrated group The Intercontinentals, and recently completed a collaborative album with the guitarist entitled “Lagrimas Mexicanas”. Cantuária rarely produces anything that is not beautiful. His music haunts the mind and grips the heart.
